I was house number 209
I was the best looking house on my
street.
street.
I was the protector
of my people.
I watched over
them.
I felt every foot step,
I heard every
Sound.
Life was
Great.
We grew old together,
As they got
Wrinkles,
I became
Weaker.
As life moved on,
I became the protector of
One.
One day,
Old things left and
New things
Came.
I soon became a
Protector of
Many.
Years past, and
I was breaking down
By the
Second.
Then I hear
Beep!
Beep!
I knew it was
Time.

I really liked your poem!
Wow, this poem really left me with the oh no factor! The ending adds a whole new side to the story. Great job!
Way to take on a persona in this poem! At the end you didn’t even have to explain what happened, because the way you wrote it made us already know.
This is a really great free verse poem because it is in a voice of what a house would say and think. I really like how you left us with a cliff hanger and left us hanging with the onomatopoeias.
